non-observations

It might be time to invest in a headlamp.  Don't tell my mom, but I ran through an underlit neighborhood in the dark this evening.  I'm not so worried about the bogeyman as the very dead, very large raccoon-possum-wharf rat I very nearly stepped on, thinking it was just one of many piles of pine needles.  The other bad thing that happened was I was lip-syncing somewhat obnoxiously as I bounded into the light of a streetlamp before I saw a woman walking her dog.  I'm sure she didn't think I was at all retarded.

  1. Now that it's getting dark before 5pm here (we're farther north and farther east), one of my friends sent her 4 kids ages 2-7 outside to play with the headlamps at that arsenic hour before dinner time. Be careful, and I won't tell ma. My household runner has taken to the treadmill, which he hates, but he's only home in daylight on the weekends.

  2. Ugh, I feel the same way about the treadmill. An attorney acquaintance of mine does 5 miles every day at lunchtime on the treadmill. That's dedication. Or something.
